New York City Gay Men's Chorus to Give First All-Classical Concerts in Decade

New York City Gay Men's Chorus to Give First All-Classical Concerts in Decade

This month, the New York City Gay Men's Chorus is set to devote an entire concert program to classical music for the first time since 1995.

The program, titled "Classically NYCGMC," will receive two performances. March 12 and 13, at Merkin Concert Hall on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Casey J. Hayes and the 150-voice choir, with mezzo-soprano Kathryn Day as special guest soloist, will cover three centuries' worth of music, with works ranging from Sweelinck (Psalm 96) to Schubert (Die Nachtigall and Ständchen) to Strauss (the Party Scene from Die Fledermaus) and from Orff to Offenbach to P.D.Q. Bach — finishing with the mighty Pilgrims' Chorus from Wagner's Tannhäuser.

More information and tickets are available at www.NYCGMC.org.
